What You Need to Know if You Were Hurt as a Southern Co Employee

How do I Report My Work Injury?

The first step in any workers’ compensation situation is to get medical care if it’s an emergency. If it isn’t, then your first step should be to talk to your supervisor or manager about your injury. You’ll need to make a report with your employer regarding the incident. 

This report often includes actually writing out answers to standard questions on a form, but your supervisor may also ask you these questions and fill out this form on your behalf as well.

Various departments may have a different approach to completing the accident report. Regardless of how the form is completed, it’s a good idea to request a copy of the form for your records.

If you are injured while running errands or driving for Southern Co, call the police so that they can make a report regarding the accident.  You can then provide this report to your employer (and keep a copy for yourself). 

If you have trouble reporting your injury, you have other options that you can use. One such option is to communicate your injury in writing, such as through a letter. Be sure to include the date the injury occurred and a general description of what happened.

You should also explicitly state that you are requesting medical care for your work injury. You may also want to note who you talked to about the work injury before providing the letter as well.
