Second Highway Sign Falls Due to Semi Crash

Just after Monday’s sign crash that tied up I-285 for hours, a second sign has fallen due to a crash. WSB reported on the incident.

This time the sign that fell was on the northbound lanes of I-85 near Flat Shoals Road just before noon yesterday. Like the other crash, a commercial truck hit the sign and damaged it, but this time it did not fall onto the interstate, nor did the truck overturn. Repair crews took about three hours to repair the sign.

The previous crash shut down parts of I-285 for hours so road crews and hazmat teams could clean up the mess. That truck was carrying diesel fuel and most of it leaked out. It has since been reported that the tanker truck crashed because another driver suddenly changed lanes in front of him.

There was another crash on Tuesday that involved a lot of road repairs. A truck overturned on I-85 before Chamblee Tucker Road. The truck damaged the roadway so badly that crews had to shut down lanes to repair it before it was safe again.
