Police and victims are seeking answers for the reason a van in Gwinnett caught fire after a car crash on I-85 in Gwinnett County. Fox 5 reported on the situation.
The police report states that the accidents happened in Suwanee. 16 people were in the van at the time of the crash. They were heading to a sober living meeting in Buford, some about to graduate from the program.
Get the strong arm
Bystanders at the crash scene tried to render aid by pulling victims out of the van and using clothing to smother the flames. Among the bystanders were two off-duty paramedics. Sadly, only some of the victims were able to escape. Six died in the flames. Witness reports say the heat was so intense that the airbags and the tires burst.
Witnesses also state that another vehicle might have directly or indirectly caused that crash. Police are seeking further information. Several lanes across I-85 and I-985 were shut down during the cleanup and initial investigation.
Our sincere condolences go out to the victims and their families. We hope the police learn who was responsible for causing this accident so the victims can receive closure and potentially compensation.
