Sometimes it’s safer to stay in a car after an accident until police arrive, but it depends on the situation. If there is a lot of fast-moving traffic, it could be dangerous to leave the vehicle.
Police are investigating a car crash that happened on the Connector early this morning. 11 Alive reported on the accident.
According to the report, the car was going northbound on the Connector near Cleveland Avenue and got into an accident. Their car was flipped over, but the police did not state if a second vehicle was involved or if the driver flipped the car on their own.
The driver left the vehicle, but for unknown reasons jumped over the median into the southbound lanes. He was hit by a vehicle and died at the scene. The report also says that a Clayton County Police officer was in the area at the time, but it’s unknown if they observed the original crash.
If you are in a crash in a heavy traffic area, call the police immediately and tell them about the incident. They can help you move your car to a safer location, or at least set up a safety area until you can get out.
However, if it is possible for you to move your car out of the traffic lanes without causing additional danger, then do so. Leaving your car in traffic makes it possible for you to get hit a second time.
