An incident in Sandy Springs has made national headlines. A woman has been arrested after her alleged involvement in two back-to-back hit-and-run incidents. ABC News reports.
The incident happened on Sunday evening. Police were responding to a hit-and-run accident that killed a pedestrian and his dog. They were walking on Hammon Drive near Glenridge Drive when a speeding white sedan hit them and fled. The impact was hard enough that both man and dog were killed at the scene.
Upon further investigation by the police, they found that the driver had been involved in another hit-and-run accident minutes before.

“Sandy Springs Police Traffic Investigators learned that minutes prior to this deadly incident, the same hit-and-run vehicle had been involved in an additional hit-and-run crash with another vehicle while in the area of Roswell Road and I-285,” Sandy Springs Police Department said in a statement on social media. “The suspect was fleeing the first incident at a high-rate of speed when it struck the pedestrian and his dog; causing fatal injuries to both.”
Police were able to track down the driver’s Florida tags to a resident in Newnan, whom they arrested. After their interrogation, the suspect has been charged with vehicular homicide in the first degree, reckless driving, two counts of hit-and-run, and one count of following too closely. She is now in the Fulton County Jail.
