11 Alive reported recently that wounds from a recent motor vehicle accident in the college town of Athens, GA were tragically responsible for the death of a Gwinnett County man on Monday, February 15, 2021, two days after the original accident occurred.
According to the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, the original accident took place on Saturday, February 13, 2021, near the intersection of Atlanta Highway and Classic Road in Athens. The victim, a Lawrenceville man 55 years of age, was driving a Jeep and suffered a head-on collision with an SUV driven by an Athens woman 54 years of age.
Both drivers were medically transported to a local hospital. Two days later, on Tuesday, February 15, the man succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the accident. The condition of the other driver is currently unknown, and the accident is under an active investigation.
