Police have confirmed that a three-year-old and her mother were killed in a car crash in Clayton county yesterday afternoon. Fox 5 Atlanta reported on the tragedy.
The accident happened near Forest Parkway at exit 237. Clayton County officials reported the girl died at the scene. The mother succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
All lanes were closed in the area for the investigation, and reopened just before afternoon rush hour.
In a separate crash last Tuesday from the same report, an accident happened at Tara Boulevard and Mount Zion Road. A victim with no identification was found seriously injured in the road in front of a Starbucks. They were taken to the hospital. No word has been released on their condition.
Just a few hours later, a similar accident happened a few miles away at Tara Boulevard and Iron Gate Boulevard. A man was found dead lying on the shoulder. Police believe he was killed by a hit-and-run driver.
Police have not announced if there was a connection between the two pedestrian strikes, but they are sure to look into it.
We wish to extend our condolences to the family of the slain victims, and hope that the causes of these accidents get revealed so they can pursue compensation and closure.
