Sometimes a crazy-looking accident happens and, miraculously, no one is injured. Even so, there is usually property damage that the at-fault driver needs to pay for, but it’s hard to do that when the alleged at-fault driver runs off.
11 Alive reported on an accident that happened on Saturday on the Downtown Connector that involved no injuries, but plenty of car damage and an alleged at-fault driver on the loose.
All northbound lanes on I-75/I-85 at I-20 were shut down, with cars backed up all the way to Langford Parkway. The crash happened around 9:30 p.m. and, according to the police, there were no reported injuries.
Police have been questioning all the drivers they could find to figure out exactly what happened, but they suspect that the at-fault driver left the scene.
Even if there are no apparent injuries now, car injuries can take days or even weeks to appear fully. The shock and adrenaline can hide pain and damage. This is why insurance companies often try to get you to settle before those later symptoms appear.
We do hope that this is a truly injury-free accident, but we also hope that the police find the suspect driver and determine whether they were at fault. Atlanta is a city where you need a car to live in most neighborhoods!
