One of the scariest intersections in Atlanta is the interchange between I-285 and Ga. 400. It’s full of left-handed merges and high-speed drivers. There’s a construction project happening now to fix the danger and improve traffic flow, but for now it’s troublesome.
One officer found that out after a crash that happened during a police chase yesterday. 11 Alive reported on the accident. The Georgia State Patrol said that the crash happened in the evening while the officer attempted a traffic stop. He was trying to pull over a speeding driver.
The driver didn’t stop, but instead made a lane change across all lanes. The quick and dangerous move forced the officer to respond. Unfortunately, it made the officer’s vehicle crash. The officer was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and is in stable condition.
The police are still investigating the matter, and we can assume that the suspect is still on the loose.
Get the strong arm
We hope that the officer recovers fully and that the suspect is caught for questioning. Pulling across all the lanes on an interstate is dangerous enough, but to do it at that intersection could have put a lot of other drivers at risk, even at that late hour. Reckless driving is a sure way to put you and others in danger. Don’t do it!
