Recently we wrote about a crash that happened in South Fulton between two suspected street racers. One of the drivers crashed into another vehicle and killed the driver, while also sustaining injuries. The driver responsible for the crash has now been arrested. Fox 5 Atlanta reports.
Officers have told the media that they’ve arrested a suspect in the case. They believe he was the driver that killed the victim in a crash that reached speeds in excess of 120 mph in a 55 mph zone.
“Street racing continues to be of grave concern in the metropolitan Atlanta area. Unfortunately, a life has been lost as a result,” the South Fulton Police Department wrote on Facebook. “We will continue to investigate those persons involved in this unlawful activity in our city.”
The suspect faces charges of first-degree homicide by vehicle, speeding, reckless driving, two counts of second-degree cruelty to children, and a seat belt violation.
Police are still searching for the second racer in the crash. Witnesses reported that two Dodge Chargers were racing at the time of the crash.
We hope that the other driver is found so police can determine what happened. Street racing, as the police department quote states, is a growing problem on Atlanta roads. We expect other drivers to follow the road rules. Accidents happen when they’re broken, and that leads to injuries and deaths.
