HERO units are a common sight if you drive Atlanta roads enough. These big yellow vehicles provide roadside help to drivers in emergencies. But one woman says that a HERO worker may have broken her car’s window in a road rage incident. Fox 5 reports.
The incident happened early Tuesday morning near Langford Parkway. Traffic was backed up on the Connector due to an accident. According to the woman, a HERO worker was putting flares down on the road and threw one at a car that moved toward the interstate.
When she got up to the man, he began yelling at her and told her to back up since she was in the emergency lane. She stated that the worker banged on the vehicle and threw a flare at her truck. It caught on the hood, so she got out to remove it, then tried to merge over.
That’s when she says the HERO worker went to her driver’s side window and smashed it. She called the police and reported it to the GDOT.
The worker’s family says that the woman’s story isn’t what happened. They say that the driver drove directly at the worker and hit him. The flare was tossed as he fell and it hit the vehicle.
GDOT is investigating the incident.
