As the weather keeps warming up, more cyclists will be out and about, including children. Drivers are required to give them three feet of space to avoid an accident. Sadly, one boy has been injured in Warner Robins thanks to a driver who didn’t follow those rules. 41 NBC reports.
Get the strong arm
The young boy was riding his bike while crossing Sonja Drive around 7:30 PM on May 1st. A car identified as a Honda Accord struck the boy and left the scene. The victim had to go to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta – Scottish Rite Hospital for treatment for a head wound. The report says the victim is in critical condition.
Yesterday evening, a Warner Robins woman was arrested after she was identified as the driver of the car that hit the boy. She has been charged with reckless driving, serious injury by vehicle, and driving while unlicensed.
The boy is still recovering, but it’s going to be a long road according to the report. We hope he has a full recovery, and we hope that the family of the boy can secure compensation now that a suspect has been found.
Please be on the lookout for bicyclists when you’re driving around Atlanta. They have every right to use the road as cars do. Let’s all get home uninjured.
