What Is Zantac?

Zantac is a heartburn medication known as an H2 blocker, which works by decreasing stomach acid. Its generic name is ranitidine.

People have used Zantac for the following conditions:

The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has listed NDMA as a likely cancerous substance for humans. The National Toxicology Program (NTP) also believes NDMA could be harmful to humans. In lab settings, NDMA is used to induce cancer in rats.

Research has linked NDMA exposure to primary cancers like:
